I went to Meizhou, Guangdong again, this February. This is the third time, and also a driving journey. I went to replace the phone number in the bank. It’s a three day drive single way, so there are stopovers en route. Previously, I stop over in Lishui, Sha xian, Pucheng, etc. On the way back this time, I chose to stop over in Sanming, which I hadn’t been to ever before. And it’s a surprise stopover.

The city is on the river bank, the Sha River, exactly the same one on which Shaxian district situated. Further, the name of Shaxian exactly comes from the river. Sanming bears the typical feature of all northern Min area, that it is located in a mountain valley and very cramped. The streets are interesting, Liedong is the mainstreet in the east bank area, Liexi is mainstreet on the other. The hotel is at the city center and on the Liedong Street. I am in a bad habit of tending to have a big nap in the evening, after that I ramble around late at night. So I can find distinctive features.

There is a beautiful pedestrian bridge on the river, very beautiful, it’s glowing even deep in the night, both for walking and biking. Somewhat like Shaxia city which has beautiful bridge too, merely rather a suspension bridge.

There are a lot stores that are open late at night in Sanming, some restaurants, eateries, fruit shops, medicine stores, supermarkets, etc. It’s amazing, the typical feature of northern Min cities.
